Abstract:
This data set contains point and line features of topographic information for 111 sections in Washington County, Wisconsin. The topographic features consist of hypsometric elements only. No map sheet elements, geodetic and gegraphic reference elements, hydrographic elements, or planimetric elements are incorporated in the files from this project. The data set covers sections 1, 2, 11-16, 21-29, and 31-36 in T9N R19E, sections 9-15, 22-27, and 34-36 in T10N R19E, sections 1-5, 10-15, 21-29, 32-36 in T11N R20E, sections 1, 2, 11-14, 23-27 in T12N R19E and sections 1-36 in T12N R20E. The digital map files were prepared at one-inch- equals-200-feet scale. The digital map files are in MicroStation DGN format and ESRI Personal Geodatabase format.
Purpose:
This data set was collected to provide topographic information for use in planning and other programs in Washington County and for regional planning activities in Southeastern Wisconsin.

The features in this data set were collected from aerial photography utilizing stereo-photogrammetric methods. The digital map files in the data set were reviewed to ensure all features are correctly represented and properly symbolized. The files were also inspected to ensure all features are complete and correctly organized in the files.

This data set was compiled by a photogrammetric engineering firm under subcontract to the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. To the best knowledge of Washington County and the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, this data set includes all of the intended features acquired from the aerial photography.

This data set consists of a set of digital map files containing hypsometric elements. Each one-inch-equals-200-feet-scale file covers the acquired data for one U. S. Public Land Survey township, or when file size dictates, half of one U. S. Public Land Survey township. The vector features contained in the files include points and lines. The digital map files are in MicroStation DGN format. The files are three-dimensional. The DGN files were were converted to Personal Geodatabases, one per U. S. Public Land Survey System Township. All files consist of graphic map features with its elevation included as an attribute.

This data set also includes a set of digital terrain model files. The features include mass points and break lines. Each tile covers the acquired data for 1 U. S. Public Land Survey township, or when file size dictates, half of one U. S. Public Land Survey township and were used to create the contour files described above. The digital map files are in MicroStation DGN format. The files are three- dimensional. All files consist of graphic map features only and do not contain attributes at this time.

Topographic data are sold by U. S. Public Land Survey System Township. Topographic data from the 2005 project is generally combined with the topographic data from one or more other projects to fill a single data request. Data for any two townships on a CD-ROM is $75 (includes all delivery fees). Available topographic data for all townships on a DVD-ROM is $200 (includes all delivery fees). Fees are generally waived for all local, regional, state, and federal governments. At the discretion of Washington County Department heads, fees can be waived for individuals or groups doing business with Washington County.
