This briefly describes the data in the lightning csvs.

Abbreviations:

LC: LightningCast
GLM: Geostationary Lightning Mapper
ENTLN: Earth Networks Total Lightning Network
CONUS: Continguous U.S.
PACUS: Pacific U.S. 


Column headers:

id: An number unique to this time for this site.

sat_name: The satellite name and instrument for the LC prediction and GLM counts.

meso_domain: 1 indicates this was a mesoscale scan; 0 indicates a CONUS/PACUS scan.

utctime: The UTC time of the scan and observations.

localtime_ts: The local time in Madison, Wisconsin (central time), of the scan and observations.

pltg_1fl_60min: The probability of lightning (≥ 1 flash) for the next 60 minutes, generated from LC at the grid point containing this site.

pltg_1fl_60min_max16km. The maximum probability of lightning (≥ 1 flash) for the next 60 minutes generated from LC within approximately 16 km of the grid point containing this site.

glmct_8km_5min: The count of GLM L2 flash centroids in the previous 5 minutes and within approximately 8 km of this site.

glmct_16km_5min: The count of GLM L2 flash centroids in the previous 5 minutes and within approximately 16 km of this site.

enict_8km_5min: The count of ENTLN in-cloud flash points in the previous 5 minutes and within approximately 8 km of this site.

enict_16km_5min: The count of ENTLN in-cloud flash points in the previous 5 minutes and within approximately 16 km of this site.

cg_enict_8km_5min: The count of ENTLN cloud-to-ground flash points in the previous 5 minutes and within approximately 8 km of this site.

cg_enict_16km_5min: The count of ENTLN cloud-to-ground flash points in the previous 5 minutes and within approximately 16 km of this site.


Miscellaneous:

LC probabilities were parallax-corrected with a constant-cloud-height assumption of 29.5 kft.
GLM flash centroids were parallax-corrected assuming a cloud top height based on the latitude ranging from 45.9 kft at the equator to 19.7 kft at the poles.
