**------------------------------------------------------------** This directory contains tarfiles of the International MODIS and AIRS Processing Package (IMAPP) Products. The software is supported on the following platforms: (1) SGI, IRIX64 6.5 (2) SUN, Solaris (SPARC) 7, 8, 9 (3) IBM, AIX 4.3 (4) LINUX, Red Hat Intel Linux 8, 9, Enterprise, compiled with gcc/g77 (5) HP, HP-UX, B.10.20 What's new? ---------- Significant improvements have been made to the MODIS processing algorithms of cloud mask (MOD35), cloud top properties and cloud phase (MOD06CT) and atmospheric profiles (MOD07). These updates make the code compatible with the Collection 5 DAAC products. A short list of the improvements include: Cloud Mask: Improvement of cloud retreival in sun-glint, nighttime and high latitude regimes. Code now requires the gdas and sst ancillary files to be used as input. Cloud Top Properties: New 101 level forward model is now used. New coefficient files are required. The numerical data month must now be used as an input argument SST files are now used as input to improve the estimation of the surface temperature. Profiles: Updates to the training data used to create the regression coefficients, including new profiles and better characterization of the surface. Ancillary: extract_ncep_gdas1.csh now extracts 54 fields out of the grib file instead of 30. These extra fields are used by the cloud top properties software. NISE files sizes are now 218 MB instead of the former 222 MB. ## NOTE: The flatfile extraction software package has not been updated. You can obtain the FLATFILE.tar file from the IMAPP/MODIS/Level2/v1.6 directory. **------------------ download directory ---------------------** CLOUDMASK.tar: Cloud mask (MOD35) source code with build and run instructions. Note: ancillary and flatfile must be built prior to cloudmask and all three should be built off of the same core directory, for example /MODIS/ancillary, /MODIS/flatfile, /MODIS/cloudmask. There is a modis_cloudmask.csh script in the cloudmask/cmd directory which will run the processes together on the test data sets. CLOUDTOP.tar: Cloud top properties and cloud phase (MOD06CT) source code with build and run instructions. Note: cloudmask, ancillary and flatfile must be built prior to cloudtop and all three should be built off of the same core directory, for example /MODIS/cloudtop, /MODIS/ancillary, /MODIS/flatfile, /MODIS/cloudmask. There is a modis_cloudtop.csh script in the cloudtop/src directory which will run the processes together on the test data sets. PROFILES.tar: Atmospheric profiles and offshoots (MOD07) including total column water vapor and stability parameters source code with build and run instructions. Note: cloudmask, ancillary and flatfile must be built prior to profiles and all three should be built off of the same core directory, for example /MODIS/profiles, /MODIS/ancillary, /MODIS/flatfile, /MODIS/cloudmask, /MODIS/destripe_band26. There is a modis_profiles.csh script in the profiles/src directory which will run the five processes together on the test data sets.
